Privacy Policy
Wikipedia Remastered is an independent beta project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Foundation, Wikimedia affiliates, or any of their associates. The website is still in development and beta. Features, design, providers, data practices, and this policy may change. Nothing about the project is final.
What This Site Does
The site provides a modern reading interface for publicly available Wikipedia content. Article searches and article reads are requested directly from Wikipedia and Wikimedia APIs from your browser. Wikipedia Remastered does not proxy article content through a private backend.
Information We Collect
The current beta is designed to collect as little information as possible. If you use Google sign-in, Firebase Authentication may provide and store account information such as your name, email address, profile photo, user ID, authentication tokens, and sign-in metadata. We do not receive your Google password.
Firebase Hosting and other infrastructure providers may process routine technical data such as IP address, device/browser information, timestamps, and request logs to deliver and secure the site. Saved articles, selected language, theme preference, and temporary response cache are stored in your browser using localStorage or sessionStorage. When you are signed in, saved articles are separated locally by your Firebase user ID on the same browser.
Wikipedia And Wikimedia Requests
When you search or open an article, your browser sends requests directly to Wikipedia or Wikimedia-operated domains. Those requests may be governed by Wikimedia's own terms, privacy policy, cookie statement, and technical logging practices.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to provide sign-in, keep your session active, remember local preferences, display saved articles on the same browser, maintain site reliability, prevent abuse, and improve the beta.
What We Do Not Do
The beta does not sell personal information. It does not use Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, or Firebase Storage for article data. It does not add advertising or analytics scripts by default. If analytics, cloud-synced saved articles, or other data features are added, this policy should be updated before those features launch.
Your Choices
You can use the reader without signing in. Signing in currently separates your saved article list from the guest list on the same browser. You can sign out of Google authentication at any time. You can remove locally saved articles, language, theme, and cache data by clearing this site's browser storage.
Content And Licensing
Wikipedia article content is provided by Wikipedia contributors and is generally available under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licenses and other applicable terms. See the original Wikipedia article and Wikimedia terms for exact licensing, attribution, and reuse requirements.
Children
This beta is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information through Google sign-in, contact the project owner so the issue can be reviewed.
Changes
Because the site is in beta, this policy may be revised as the project changes. Material updates should be reflected by changing the "Last updated" date above.
Contact
Before a public production launch, replace this section with the project owner's real privacy contact email or mailing address. This beta policy is a practical starting point, not a substitute for legal advice.
